Hmmm.....Sounds like we need to have a group ride out there.
Ted - there are actually two trailheads which is very strange since the "official" trail is so short. Both have picnic tables and grilles, though, so I'm not complaining. If you drive through Wanamie you can't miss one of them since they actually put a little "Earth Conservancy" sign with an arrow out by the main road. There might even be two but I only noticed the one when I was through there last week. |

I found the trail head right behind the Newport township little leauge field, very well marked as well from the main road. Make the left, go past the LL, go maybe 200 feet and there be the parking lot.
I agree, would make a nice group ride..maybe a short fun type of thing..and maybe have a "Hill Climb Challenge up that long straight shot up the side of the hill in my one pic. |

http://www.traillink.com/viewtrail.aspx?AcctID=6400699 Parking & Trail Access: From Route 29- Take Exit 2 and make a left at the end of the ramp. Follow road until it ends at a stop sign. Make a left hand turn and then bear to the right until you hit the next stop sign. Make a left on to W. Kirmar Ave (you will pass the Parkway Inn). Follow Kirmar Pkwy for approximately 3/4 mile to Regional Equipment Center on left. Trailhead One is located here. If you chose to start at the second Trailhead, continue to follow W. Kirmar Ave about 1.5 miles making a left, on to W. Main St, after you pass a self storage facility near the baseball field. Trailhead 2 is on your right about 1/4 of a mile. |

The best thing I can tell you is make a left after Thor's Storage (or a right just before it depending on which way your coming) The storage place is recognizable by a parrot on the sign. go past the park with the ball fields and follow the road about .25 miles maybe a little more and there is a small lot on the right to park. You should see the sign pictured above for the Penobscot MTB Trail. Hope this helps.
Also thank you to everyone for their input and help with my question. It is truly appreciated. |

There are two trailheads. The first is about 1/4 mile past the Parkway restaurant. In is on your left hand side with a yellow sign for the trail. The second is about a mile up the road. You will pass a storage facility and need to make the immediately left after that. Trail head is a quarter mile on your right.
